How does a First Nations Program differ from a Corporate or Municipal Program of Insurance?
Similarities between First Nations and Municipal or Corporate Insurance programs include those physical assets such as: administration and community centers, water treatment facilities, parks and recreation facilities, equipment and automobile fleets. Similarly, liability exposures such as police services, fire fighting services Council errors and omissions, crime and environmental impairment liability are common to both. First Nations however provide unique services to their communities including: health care services, education, membership services, economic development, daycare centers, elder homes and unique cultural activities.
How do I know that your Insurance Company partners are financially sound?
Financial strength and stability are monitored through AM Best. The AM Best report provides statements of each Insurer outlining balance sheets (assets and liabilities), profitability ratios, re-insurance activity and solvency ratings. As well, industry leaders also consider the corporate nature of these large companies and monitor annual profits, underwriting losses, investment income and major mergers and acquisitions.
